Date of Birth 27 January 1958, San Diego, California, USA

She is skilled in Aikido and stage combat. Susanna Thompson will be playing the Sexy Queen Rose Benjamin on NBC's drama "Kings."

Thompson is best known for her work as Karen Sammler on the award-winning television drama "Once & Again." Thompson was recently in the commercial narrative film "American Pastime" alongside Gary Cole, and in 2005, she was nominated for the Golden Star Award at Marrakech International Film Festival for her performance opposite Daniel Day Lewis in "The Ballad of Jack & Rose." Thompson has appeared in such feature films as "Dragonfly" (as Kevin Costner's late wife), "Ghosts of Mississippi" with Alec Baldwin, and "When a Man Loves a Woman" (with Meg Ryan and Andy Garcia).

Thompson has several primetime guest appearances ranging from NBC's hit series "Law & Order: SVU," "Chicago Hope," "The X-Files," and a special two-hour "Star Trek: Voyager" as the Borg queen. In 2007, she starred in the cable miniseries "The Gathering" with Peter Fonda, and has held a recurring role on the past several seasons of "NCIS" opposite Mark Harmon.

Thompson earned a drama scholarship to San Diego State University, where she had the unique honor of appearing in theater productions under the co-direction of Tony Award-winning playwright Tom Stoppard. Thompson now resides in San Diego, California, with her husband.

Susanna received a Dramalogue Award for her role as Luisa in "A Shayna Maidel." She was also nominated for Best Actress by the San Diego Critics Circle for her role as Agnes in "Agnes of God."

Got the role of the "Borg Queen" on "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) only because Alice Krige (who played the role in the movie Star Trek: First Contact (1996)) refused to reprise her role. For the final episode, Susanna Thompson was not available (because of shooting "Once and Again" (1999)) so Alice Krige played the Borg Queen in the final episode.

Her husband is a professor at San Diego State University.

After high school she was a shoe salesperson for Sears and has worked as a hostess in a restaurant.

Said in an interview that being in costume for the Borg Queen was "painful". She was in hair and make up for five hours to transform her into the Borg Queen and then would film for sometimes 18 hours a day, with an additional hour and a half just to get out of costume. She lost more than five pounds while filming.

Thompson starred in the made-for-television remake of the film classic High Noon, in which she played Amy Fowler, the role that Grace Kelly made famous. Her other television credits include NYPD Blue, Chicago Hope, and The X-Files, in addition to a recurring role as the Borg Queen in the series Star Trek: Voyager.Nominated for Best Actress by the San Diego Critics Circle for her role as Agnes in Agnes of God, Thompson's other stage work includes Three Sisters, Hayfever, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Real Thing.
